Piano Recital with Maria Vengou

A piano recital with masterpieces of the romantic repertoire will be offered by Maria Vegu to the music loving audience of Thessaloniki. The programme will begin with a selection of 6 pieces from the work of Tchaikovsky "The Seasons" the seasons, a work rich in emotional contrasts, Russian melodies and lyricism. This will be followed by two Mazurkas by Chopin that highlight more the melancholic- introspective side of the genius composer as well as the Chopin's 3rd Ballade in a battle of light and darkness. The program will close with the famous Prelude in G minor and the Musical Moments No. 3 and 4, Op. 16 by the leading Russian composer Rachmaninoff.

Maria Vengou is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University and has deepened her knowledge of the art of piano alongside important pianists, continuators of the tradition of the Russian School of Victor Merzanov, such as Lambis Vassiliadis, Hideyo Harada and Claudio Curro Dossi. 

The recital will take place on Tuesday 13 May at 20:30 in the hall of the Vafopouleio Cultural Centre in Thessaloniki.
