A few words about the show:
The performance is based on the novel of the same name by the award-winning Yannis Skaragas, and is inspired by the life of Despina Achladiotis, the Greek widow who became known as the Kyra of Ro from the name of the small island where she lived alone from the Second World War until her old age. After the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Despina Achladiotis became a heroic figure.
Join us for a rare theatrical experience, illuminating from the beginning the life of a woman who became a legend through her hope, bravery and extraordinary tenderness. The Lady of the Roe is an unforgettable performance that honors all that our common humanity stands for. It is a timeless story about women struggling to find their place in a world with no memory and no place for them.
Written with great poetry, compassion and humour, and with the air of Fotini Baxevani's captivating performance, The Lady of Ro is a stirring performance that starts from a time and place to describe a universal human story.
The Lady of the Roe will make your heart beat loudly.
The play was presented in different performances outside Greece, in Cyprus, in the USA and in Australia. The performance is presented in a new staging by Stavros Litinas.
