"The Euthalia of Galata"
(based on the novel "Fahisee Chika" published by Agra)
by THOMAS KOROVINI
With Nikoletta Vlavianou
Directed by Reina Eskenazy
Evthalia, the girl from Kerasounda...
Evthalia, the war orphan who managed to survive...
Euthalia, refugeeism, genocide and hope for a better life.
Euthalia, the woman who served, but was also overwhelmed by love.
An adventure... a life... mirrored inch by inch,
the turbulent times of Hellenism, the Black Sea and Constantinople.
The "peculiarity" of her image and her explosive character attracted the author's interest.
The conversation with her prompted a heartfelt personal confession,
on the basis of which Thomas Korovinis built the shocking monologue-novel "Phachisee Chika" (published by Agra).
Euthalia of Polis, unravels the thread of her troubled memory
and ends up narrating yesterday, piecing together parts of her life.
It leads the viewer with emotional intensity, through the labyrinthine
alleys of Galatas, where all the tribes mingle, creating
a mixture of flavours, colours, aromas, music and songs.
Fate has robbed her of much, but has given her the ultimate love,
in the arms of Marciano, a rare officer.
Her pure and generous heart never stopped
fluttering for his fiery eyes.
Her soul longs for their bodies to be reunited,
in one last tango...
