From the Earth to the Moon

Synopsis: In 1869 America, 100 years before the Apollo 11 moon landing, the warmongers weep for their fate because the war is over and they have all fallen into inactivity. They reminisce about the glorious past and are uncomfortable with the mourning clothes aging unused in the closets and the cotton growing back in the fields, as Verne writes! Just then, the president of the Telegraphic Society, the wise Ibey Barbican, comes to provide a solution by announcing a plan to throw a shell from Earth to the Moon, an act that will be the first real communication between man and the Earth's satellite and will glorify the 36 United States of America to the ends of the earth. An implacable enemy of the President and a strange Frenchman who will demand and eventually succeed in getting into the shell to go to the Moon are just a few of the elements that make the sequel both moving and spine-tingling.
