Some of the most popular arias and duets of beloved opera and operetta composers will be performed at the Opera Gala of International Festival of Corfu.
On Friday 27 October at 20:00 at Municipal Theatre of Corfu the soprano Artemis Bogri and the bass baritone Angelos Chondrogiannis will perform works by Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, Verdi, Gounod, Sakellaridis, while the piano will be accompanied by Thanasis Apostolopoulos.
BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS
ARTEMIS BOGRI
She was born in Athens and began her musical studies first at the piano. Courses classical singing started in her classroom Marina Krilovic at Athenaeum Conservatory, where she received her diploma with a grade of Excellent Unanimous, First Prize, and a gold medal. She has attended her singing seminars Daphne Evangelatos, of Kostas Paschalis, of Jeannette Pilou and the Mars Christofelli, with whom he continues the study of repertoire. He was an active member of the Opera Studio of the National Opera from 2009 to 2011.
He has collaborated with the Athens State Orchestra, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Colours, the Orchestra of E.R.T., the Ergon Ensemble, the Hellenic Ensemble of Contemporary Music and the Camerata - Friends of Music Orchestra. In recent years he has been working closely with the composer George Kurupos, giving concerts with him in Greece and abroad, while he has sung the first world premiere of his works "The Tent of Miracles“, “Voice of Oak“, “Leoprella" and "Elpis Patridos". He has repeatedly participated in productions of the National Opera of Greece.
He appeared in the roles of the Composer (Ariadne in Naxos), Rosina (The barber of Seville), Angelina (Cinderella), Dorabella (So do all), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Kerubino (The marriages of Figaro), Stefano (Romeo and Juliet), Prince Orlovsky (The Bat), Mercedes (Carmen). In 2021 he sang the homonymous role in the opera Despo of Paul Carrer in the anniversary tribute for the 200 years of the Greek Revolution, while she has also appeared in the role of Euthymi Chira in a production of the Athens Concert Hall. She participated in the first world revival of the opera of C.W. Gluck “Il trionfo di Clelia” (Royal Opera House-Linbury Studio), and also in works of contemporary repertoire (a tribute to the 80th anniversary of the pioneering British composer Peter Maxwell Davies (Icones- Miss Donnithorne's maggot, MMA), “Madness" at the Athens Festival, singing the work of Thomas Larcher “My illness is the medicine I need", the 16 songs of Nikos Skalkotas in first run (M.M.A.), etc.). He is a graduate of the Department of Economic Science, University of Piraeus.
ANGEL CHONDROGIANNIS
The bass baritone Angelos Chondrogiannis was born in Corfu. He studied Higher Theoretical and clarinet at the Corfu Conservatory. Graduate of the Athens Drama School. Study classic song with the internationally renowned baritone Kostas Paschalis and the Irini Tsirakidou. Graduate of Master of Music in Performance in high School of Music Würzburg in the classroom of Cheryl Studer. Scholar of the Foundation Wagner for the year 2015. He has collaborated with many orchestras and theatres in Greece and Germany such as E.L.S., Camerata, Opera of Würzburg, Athens Concert Hall etc. He is a teacher of singing in conservatories and choirs.
THANASIS APOSTOLOPOULOS
Ο Thanasis Apostolopoulos has performed in some of the most important European concert halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Philharmonie in Cologne, the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert halls, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the BFM in Geneva, the Birmingham Symphony Hall or the Philharmonic Hall of Sofia, where he has been awarded a prize at the International Piano Competition "Albert Roussel".
Study piano at Athens Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1990 with a Soloist Diploma and First Prize unanimously, and then completed his studies at the Royal College of Music in London, Paris and Salzburg with scholarships from the Onassis Foundation, the British Council and the French Government. His teachers included Ares Garoufalis, η Irina Tsaritskaya and the Germaine Mounier.
As soloist has performed with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Athens and Thessaloniki State Orchestras, the Hanover Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of Colours, the Camerata - Orchestra of the Friends of Music, the Guerzenich Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of Guerzenich, the Turin Philharmonic Orchestra, the ERT Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonietta of Basel, the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens, the Nash Ensemble, etc.ά.
Dividing his activity between recitals, chamber music concerts and collaborations with lyrical artists, he has performed in Greece and throughout Europe (England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland), in the USA and in the Middle East, with participation in international festivals in Greece and abroad (Athens, Nafplion, Patras, Festival Berlioz in France, Mozart Festival in the USA, etc.).
It is also doctoral candidate at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at National Technical University of Athens. His research concerns the analysis of Bach's choruses using machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques and, more generally, the composition of music by mechanical means.
