What could happen if after the end of all the revolutions, all the
\nof the movements that the last few centuries have spawned, Princess Sissy was meeting
\nagain with her killer, but ...in the Other World...where 'all are equal' and the
\nall that matters is forgiveness?
\nThis is the theme of the new original play 'SISSY IN HEAVEN', based on the life of
\nand the untimely death of Princess SISSY, the grieving empress of the
\nAustria, which was written by order of the CERKYRAS THEATRE, the actor
\nZACHARIAS ROCHAS, starring in the title role Anzela Gerekou.
\nThe play is set in a 'th-place', (Purgatory - Paradise?), where the importance of
\nno time, no seasons, no titles, no origins, no money, only the
\nTELEPHONE:
\n\"Souls must be reconstituted and the drama must be repeated from the beginning. This
\nthis time with the aim of forgiveness...' as Angel says in the play, who as
\ndirector, he makes sure everything happens on time!
\nWith a lot of humour and theatre-in-theatre techniques, the play touches on very important
\nissues that defined the 20th century:
\nWhat is the value of lives when people are suffering? How much blood justifies a
\nRevolution? What does prison mean to anyone? What is the significance of individual stories,
\nin the face of the overwhelming tide of HISTORY?
\nThe play comes to show that the impossibility of personal rebellion carries the same weight as
\nthe desperate act of an ideologue, and that what one believes, however justly
\nis, can never be 'called an act'.<\/p>\n
The personal stories of each of the protagonists, Princess SISSY,
\nof her killer, Luigi Lukeni, the mother of Luisa, her son Sissy's mother,
\nPrince RODOLPHOS, as well as his mistress and cousin MARIA VETSERA,
\neven the teacher of SISSY, the Greek intellectual and director
\nKonstantinos Christomanou, they all ended up with a wound in the heart....
\nWho can justify their short lives but themselves? What can
