\nThe long-awaited performance of the acclaimed director in a summer
\ntour. A modern and timely adaptation of the Sophoclean anti-war
\ntragedy with a subversive cast. Antigone by Ellie Triggo.

The performance was presented with great success at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus
\non August 5 & 6, as part of the Athens & Epidaurus Festival 2022 and

The story
\nOn the day after the Civil War in Thebes, the city's patrons celebrate the
\nvictory, trying to erase from their memory the days of insecurity
\nand misery. The new ruler, Creon, joins the celebration in order to
\nconsolidate his power by intimidating his fellow citizens with threats. ''\u0393\u03b9\u03bf\u03c1\u03c4\u03ac\u03b6\u03b5\u03b9''
\nand young Antigone; a feast of disobedience, illuminated by her enthusiasm
\nresistance to the political pragmatism of tyranny.<\/p>\n
