The Secret Garden - Dance Performance | Dance Movement | Corfu

Christina Economou's recognized dance school "Chorokino" celebrates its 20th anniversary. In as many annual performances it has presented major works such as "Dr Coppelius' Attic", "Peter Pan", "Hansel & Gretel", "Cinderella", "Snow White", "Alice in Wonderland", "Sleeping Beauty" etc. The play chosen for this year is "The Secret Garden".

This is a beloved classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, first published in 1911. It tells the story of Mary, a wayward and neglected orphan sent to live with her reclusive uncle in the Yorkshire countryside. There, she discovers a hidden, walled garden that has been locked and neglected for years. With the help of local boy Deacon and her ailing cousin Colin, Mary works to bring the garden back to life and in doing so transforms herself and those around her. The story is a beautiful exploration of the power of nature, friendship and positive thinking to heal and bring joy. The book has been adapted to film to great acclaim in 2020.

This year's performance is innovative as it is the first outside the Municipal Theatre. The venue chosen by "Chorokinis" is the Marasleion Hall, a wonderful atrium that fits the values of the show. Responding to the great demand from the public, it will present 2 performances, on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 June.
