On Monday 31 July, at 21.30, in Corfu at the EVENT SPACE "AT THE GLASS" will be presented the performance that is expected to be one of the top artistic events of the summer. The performance, which brings together a number of important actors, will be directed by Lilly Meleme, while Lena Papaligura plays the title role. The leading roles are performed by Stratis Hadjistamatiou [Orestes], Elizabeth Mutafi [Clytemnestra], John Papazisis [Educator], Erietta Manouri [Chrysothemis], David Maltese [Aegisthus], Paris Leontes [Piladis].

This is an ambitious production of the Ars Aeterna in cooperation with the Theatre of the New World.

In "Electra" by Sophocles, Electra and Orestes avenge the murder of Agamemnon by Clytemnestra and Aegisthus, paying for the blood with blood. Deeply influenced by his time (late 5th century), which was possessed by a spirit of questioning, investigation and deconstruction, Sophocles chooses to tell the Atreides myth through the subjective gaze of Electra. A gaze shattered by pain and grief, reflecting, magnifying and sometimes distorting the reality that surrounds her. It is a grim reality. A universe drowning in corruption and injustice. An unheroic world where everything has been subverted and the order of things has been dangerously disrupted. In this world, Electra chooses to be the only cell of living conscience that will not cease to denounce immorality and hypocrisy in perpetuity. Her voice is a brave and dynamic act of active resistance that constantly disturbs and incessantly reminds us of the need to redress the terrible injustice.
