...but in the course of progress and development, the State, remaining in selfishness, hypnotized in inactivity, has become a caput mortuum, because since the appearance of the great reformer in modernity and reform, abysus abyssum abyssum invocabat.

A few words about the project: The Stenu family pays an unexpected visit to the Nerulu family. The purpose of the visit: a match. An apparently  as must social interaction, through a series of intense misunderstandings, eventually ends up in a big comic fiasco.

Ilias Kapetanakis' work, written more than a century ago, with its merciless satire and caustic humour, exposes the catholicity, stupidity, deformity and blind imitation of the then petty bourgeois class of Athens, in such a penetrating way that the analogies with today seem comically creepy.

Note from the Director

The 'Benghazi' is transformed into a nightmare, which triggers all the events that in chains strip the modern Greek morals bare.

When the façade is stripped off, the hut of Karagiozis is revealed... But maybe even this, at times,  seems to have more organization than the Greek State, over time...
