After the sold-out performances and the enthusiastic response of the Corfiot audience, the performance My friend Dostoevsky is repeated for a unique evening on Wednesday 29 January 2025 at 19:00, at the Main Stage of the Municipal Theatre of Corfu.
Through the full of humour and true emotion writing of Dimitra Papadopoulou, the full of variations and tenderness direction of Kostas Gakis, the human and magical staging and lighting touches of Natasha Faye Kosmidou and of course the divine and touching performance of Pavlos Loutsidis, Dostoevsky's great play "The Dream of a Ridiculist" comes to life today in a completely unexpected and fresh way.
We can through the words of Dostoevsky...
To discover what we seek?
To find out where the truth really lies?
Shall we engage in a merciless battle with the dragon of seriousness?
To find out where the purpose and meaning of our life is?
Will we ever be able to exonerate our "ridiculous" selves?
To feel the light even in the darkest streets?
Should we take some time in the hustle and bustle of this city to stargaze again?
To allow a little girl who speaks another language, believes in another God
to teach us how to love?
To enjoy our every humiliation as if it were a triumph?
Should we learn from the beginning how to fall in love?
To realize that nothing separates us from our neighbour and everything unites us?
To love life again and honour the miracle given to us?
The Hero of our play, he did it!
He could do it even though he had lost everything - job, money, expensive house, power, prestige and with it the meaning of existence.
He did it, even though he now lives in a basement in Acharnon.
He did it!
Discovering the good in everything within and around him - he embraced and loved life again.
Because as the "Great" Fyodor Dostoevsky says:
"A man who knows how to hug is a good man."
And since he was able to do it...
Why not us?
