Angelica Nickle Solomou

the DIAPHANE by Pericles Moscholidakis

with Magda Katsipanou.

One of the greatest successes of VAULT Theatre Plus, the performance "Angelica Nikli Solomou the Transparent", based on the shocking life of the mother of our national poet Dionysios Solomos, in text and direction by Pericles Moscholidakis, with Magda Katsipanou in the homonymous role, returns to the En Athinais Theatre. From Wednesday 31 January, and every Wednesday at 20:00 and Thursday at 21:00, for limited performances.

The show premiered at the VAULT Theatre in December 2017 and was presented for 3 years (over 150 performances), in the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, recording consecutive sellouts and extensions, as well as notable comments from audiences and critics. It travelled and was presented with the same success at the Vrachon Theatre in Byron, at the Rematia Festival in Chalandri, in Zakynthos (the homeland of Dionysios Solomos), at the D.P.E.T.E. Agrinio and the PLAYGROUND Theatre in London.

It is one of the nine performances of the theatrical project "MY SON...". A theatrical festival of monologues, with Dimitris Karatzias as the initiator and artistic director, which brings on stage mothers of great Greek men. A festival dedicated to the memory of Chrysa Spilioti.

THE CASE OF THE PROJECT

Angelica Nikli was sold at the age of 13 to Conte Nikolaos of Salamon to become his concubine - his oracle and had two illegitimate boys with him, Dionysios who became the National Poet of the Greeks and Demetrios who became Senator of the Ionian Islands. Shortly before his death, old Condes Salamon married his diviner and legitimized his illegitimate children, who became the main heirs of his vast fortune. Dionysius' cult relationship with his mother Angelica Niklis Solomou is finally shattered when Dionysius' half-brother Ioannis Leontarakis, his mother's son by a subsequent marriage, claims part of the estate of Conte Salamon and his mother takes his side. As Greece burns from end to end with the Revolution of 1821, the Salamon Trial shocks Greece and Angelica, ultimately a victim of the controversy, is vilified throughout Hellenism as her personal life is discussed everywhere and she herself, Transparent, experiences terrible humiliation, poverty and abandonment from all sides.

How much did the tragic fate of his mother affect the life and work of Dionysios Solomos?

How current and topical is the abuse and humiliation of our women?

How familiar are we with the events and customs of an era that marked the history of our country?

A performance of a dialogue between Angelica and Dionysios, a performance for one voice and a cello, which intervenes and comments on the events with its exquisite sound.
