Author's description of the project:
"Two women meet three times in a public laundry.
In their meetings they talk about their children, about the educational
Internet documentary about the awesome power of Evolution. Yet
soon the viewers learn about an Arena, for public
beheading girls on live television for a boy who was
polishes his axe, for the fragrance of the pine that scents the
freshly laundered clothes.
A dystopian thriller about mainstream eugenics - and the crimes of
of good people patiently waiting for the washing machine to finish
them."
Vox Nova's note for the performance:
Thanasis Triaridis with this work manages to shock us and to
profoundly reflect us, reminding us of the strong presence of the
Nazi eugenic ideas in our society. The Laundromat focuses on
conflict between obedience to authority and our morality. What can
that is, when one enters a situation in which the
personal responsibility is transferred to the person giving the orders.
A Milgram experiment that is no longer an experiment.
A brutal and nightmarish story, as everyday stories are.
