A shocking play about the "stranger" among us, loneliness, hope and dreams that transcend borders
"My name is Sand. I am thirty years old. "Sand in English means sad. I am not sad."
With this sentence, Sand begins to tell his story.
Sad was born and raised in Iraq. Now he is another immigrant, in Germany. He is now in the place he dreamed of and loved through his readings, but he is lonely and afraid.
He would like to be like everyone else. He would like to be able to talk to them. He'd want to be able to get on the subway. To belong.
But he's a stranger.
He lives locked up in his room.
"This is my chair. This is where I sit. I love my chair... Even though I don't own it, this chair is my home."
In this room, which is his whole world, Sand yearns and dreams. He talks about life and his people, struggles to hold on to everything he loves, makes jokes about himself, and teeters between loneliness and hope with heartbreaking humor and disarming honesty.
Sand is the Other, the different one who is to blame for everything. The one we pass by every day without seeing him, without ever really knowing him. Sand is among us. Or is it within us?
"Dirt" was first staged in Greece in 1997, by the Theatre of New Cosmos, directed by Vangelis Theodoropoulos and starring Konstantinos Markoulakis.
Konstantinos Famis presented "Dirt" for the first time in 2016, touring Greece, while in 2018, he performed in Athens and Thessaloniki.
"....somewhere I heard a phrase in Arabic, but I know someone thought of it in German. Now I'm going to say this phrase.
What you can't talk about, it's better to keep silent.
Now I know that this phrase is wrong.
What you can't talk about, you have to talk about!"

They wrote about the Dirt
2023
Vana Kravari, lifo micropragmata
"The show bombards the audience with raw truths, necessary irony and a long simmering anger and
will boil forever, as long as some (those) who have the illusion of a demek superiority on the flimsy basis of
skin colour and origin".
Maria Marie Marie, In2life
"Konstantinos Famis is experiencing his role internally. He becomes Sand. His movement resembles that of Chaplin in his films, embodying poverty and misery."
Elena Hatzopoulou, Sinwebradio
"A difficult monologue, but the quiver of Konstantinos Famis has all the interpretive tools
to conquer it."
Elisa Soufli, artharbour
"The approximately one hour of K. Fami's interpretation seeks to reveal the overwhelming impact of stereotypes
and prejudices in a person's life. "
Vivian Mitsakou, Theatre Project 365
"Konstantinos Famis with a dynamic performance, convincing and crucial in the role of Sand"
"... But nothing would have been the same without the interpretation of Konstantinos Fami. His piercing gaze
soul, the tone of his voice and the sharp gestures, conveyed to us clearly the image of a man
seemingly compromised, but who at heart cannot accept the unfairness and absurdity of what
experiences."
Pellina Stamatakis, Musicity
"I saw the show last Monday and it's stayed with me ever since. I often remember scattered words
but mostly I remember how it made me feel. "Constantine Famis is excellent, he expresses all the
the psychological and emotional ups and downs of a man who dreamed of a better place and experienced the disappointment of that dream 'to his face'."
Anna Pahi, iart
"Konstantinos Famis in the role of Sad was riveting. He made unique use of his character
hero, getting deep into the root of racism. He was straddling the line uniquely, giving all the dimensions of
theme, while unlocking countless emotions in the audience"

A WORK FIST IN THE RACIST STOMACH OF US ALL
"An amazing acting performance by Konstantinos Famis that makes you wonder and disgust the existing racist tendencies that exist around us and are spreading rapidly."
"The story of Sand is a captivating monologue, with a Konstantinos Famis who delivers an excellent performance of the role, keeping the viewer's interest and emotional involvement undiminished. A performance worth watching."
"Konstantinos Famis is simply sensational on stage. Although he had an extremely difficult monologue, full of symbolism, he was nevertheless revealing in his performance."
"Konstantinos Famis dives into the sanctuary of the hero Sand, covering his body, soul and spirit with the "white sheet" where Robert Schneider wrote."
"The thrilling performance emphasizes the popular saying "is John afraid of the beast or the beast afraid of John?" After all, the relations between citizens and States function like communicating vessels, and fear is not as dense in a metaphorical sense."
"Be sure to see Konstantinos Fami in "Dirt". It's worth it!"
"Through a difficult play, with a sharp, fragmentary speech, often fragmentary, with rapid emotional changes and with sudden dramatic climaxes, Konstantinos Famis successfully portrays the personality of the sad Sand."
The Sand of Konstantinos Famis and Katerina Polychronopoulou made me shudder"
"Konstantinos Famis was simply wonderful. Despite the fact that he was always on stage alone, you never lost interest for a moment and that was purely due to his talent. Amazing in his changes from Iraqi immigrant to German citizen, in such a simple way and easy to understand by all the audience. Anything to say will be an understatement. Just extraordinary."
"The performance of Konstantinos Fami in the role of Sand is riveting! Completely natural in his acting... sometimes sensitive, touching, proud, human, kind and sometimes sharp, furious, full of anger, rage and fear. Emotional transitions with silences, pauses and repetitions captured with aptness and absolute precision."
